Generally speaking, damage is the amount of hit points deducted from a target by an object or an NPC. Mostly we are concerned with damage inflicted by objects wielded by the player character (Γκέραλτ), but of equal consideration is the damage received from objects wielded by his opponents. This damage amount can range from 0 to the amount of Ζωτικότητα a target has remaining in the game.

The player, or Γκέραλτ, can inflict damage by the using Όπλα such as a ατσάλινο σπαθί, a ασημένιο σπαθί, signs or miscellaneous other Όπλα he finds, and even his fists.

Stacking of Damage

Damage in The Witcher stacks by multiplication. This is best explained with the use of examples.

Case 1:

  • Γκέραλτ wields a steel sword which boasts +50% damage.
  • He then applies a whetstone (+10% damage) to it.
  • The amount of damage he will do then is:
(base damage) × 1.5 (Weapon damage bonus) × 1.1 (whetstone) = (base damage) × 1.65

Case 2:

  • Γκέραλτ wields a steel sword which boasts +50% damage.
  • He then applies necrophage oil (+100% damage vs necrophages) to it.
  • The amount of damage he will do against necrophages then is:
(base damage) × 1.5 (Weapon damage bonus) × 2 (necrophage oil) = (base damage) × 3

Damage

Weapon damage varies with character attributes in The Witcher 2, so the damage inflicted with any given weapon may not be the same for every player.
