Down the Hatch is a quest in the "Side Effects" premium module.
Walkthrough[]
Geralt first meets Sergeant Orel at The Hairy Bear where he learns that the Sergeant is responsible for security in the Temple Quarter, but there is a problem: monsters have made their home in the sewers and rendered them impassible. To make sure none of the local population accidentally enters the sewers, and to keep the monsters inside, the sergeant has locked them up tight and posted a guard.
Geralt offers to clean out the sewers, given that it is what he does. Orel considers the offer, but refuses to hand over the operation before Geralt can drink him under the table. Never one to pass up such an offer, Geralt obliges. After winning the contest, Orel gives the witcher an old book and the sewer key.
As it happens, the book happens to be a rarity for which Everden is willing to pay.
Phases[]
Sewers Locked[]
The sewers have been locked since monsters infested them recently. If I want to get in, I'll need to get the key from Sergeant Orel, commander of the mercenaries stationed at the sewer entrance. Like any good commander, he spends most of his time getting drunk at the Hairy Bear. I should talk to Sergeant Orel. Apparently, he spends most of his time at the tavern.
Proof[]
Sergeant Orel demanded proof that I'm a witcher. The only way to convince him is to beat him in a drinking contest. Looks like I have no choice — if I want to get in the sewers, I have to outdrink the mercenary. I need to drunk Orel under the table.
Success[]
I managed to outdrink Sergeant Orel, though my liver probably hates me for it. Good thing I'm a witcher. In any case, I have the key to the sewers. I can now open the sewer entrance.
Failed quest[]
I should fetch Dandelion and get him out of Vizima as soon as possible. I won't have time to finish this quest. I won't be able to finish this quest.
