Guarded treasure

There are a number of guarded treasures scattered about the various regions in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These are typically guarded by higher-level monsters.

White Orchard

• 5 locations in total
  • 1 location along the riverbank just south of the Ransacked Village, guarded by drowners. Contains the recipe for Tawny owl
  • 1 location north of the Mill
  • 1 location south along the west bank of the river from Woesong Bridge, about halfway between the Abandoned village and the Ford. Contains the formula for Rubedo
  • 1 location in the swamp southeast of the Nilfgaardian Garrison
  • 1 location in the swamp southwest of the Nilfgaardian Garrison, about halfway between the garrison and the sawmill

Pontar (Velen and Novigrad)

• 32 locations
  • 1 northwest of the Harpy Feeding Ground (guarded by a basilisk)
  • 2 near the Hangman's Alley fast travel marker
    • 1 by the harbor northwest of the fast travel marker
    • 1 due south of the fast travel marker (guarded by endregas)
  • 1 by the swamp by the lake south of Midcopse (guarded by wraiths)
  • 1 in the forest between Lindenvale and Dragonslayer's Grotto
  • 1 on the west side of the inlet between Lindenvale and the Boatmakers' Hut (guarded by a forktail)
  • 1 by the Elven ruins near Lake Wyndamer, southeast of Byways (guarded by a water hag)
  • 1 by a grave just south of Frischlow (guarded by a noonwraith)
  • 1 by a cave further south of Frischlow (guarded by a gargoyle)
  • 1 in a burned out camp west of Olena's Grove (guarded by an alghoul)

  • 2 by the Destroyed Bastion (one guarded by a cyclops and the other by a wyvern)
