Tw2 Lodge sorceress

Some of the sorceresses of the Lodge in The Witcher 2

Lodge of Sorceresses arose from the ruins of the Council of Sorcerers after the incident on Thanedd Island essentially killed the older order. It's a secret organization comprised entirely of female mages; it's even referred to as a sisterhood. It was started by Philippa Eilhart about six weeks after the coup on Thanedd Island. The first meeting was attended by Philippa, Triss Merigold, Keira Metz, Margarita Laux-Antille, Sabrina Glevissig, Sheala de Tancarville and Assire var Anahid, though only some of the sorceresses where physically able to join the proceedings. For the second meeting, all the members did attend physically.

The Lodge's meetings take place in the castle of Montecalvo, Philippa's home base.

Glossary Entry

Glossary The Lodge of Sorceresses

The Lodge of Sorceresses was founded after the mutiny on Thanedd Island as a substitute for the Council of Sorcerers. The founders' aim was to bring the war between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms to a close while maintaining the mages' influence on the fate of the world. It is effectively an association of the most powerful female mages from both the northern and the southern realms. The Lodge has significant political influence, although its activities are not entirely understood by the public.

Notes

  • During the game, several references are made to the Lodge itself, or its members.

In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, the Lodge of Sorceresses has an important influence game narrative. In fact Geralt of Rivia is at the center of a plot hatched by some members of the Lodge to murder King Demavend, and the ambassador Shilard Fitz-Oesterlen, on behalf of Nilfgaardian Empire.

Spoiler warning: Significant plot details follow.

Depending on the player's choices, some of the sorceresses may find their deaths. Among these are Assire var Anahid, assassinated by Shilard, and Síle de Tansarville. Furthermore Sabrina Glevissig has previously been executed by King Henselt three years earlier. Philippa Eilhart is imprisoned and blinded by King Radovid, who charges her with treason. The entire lodge is thus destroyed, but we do not know yet what will be the fate of sorceresses still alive, such as Triss Merigold, Fringilla Vigo, Francesca Findabair and Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Significant plot details end here.
