Sodden is the name for the area around the Yaruga river between Cintra, Brugge and Riverdell. In the aftermath of the Nilfgaard Wars, Sodden was divided between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms into the Upper Sodden, the southern region and the Lower Sodden, the northern part.

After the death of Ekkehard of Sodden, King Foltest of Temeria became the ruler of Lower Sodden because, as Ekkehard's nephew, he was the logical heir.
