Signed on 2 April 1268, the Peace of Cintra outlined the conditions following the war. The talks were held in Cintra between the Northern Kingdoms and the Nilfgaardian Empire, ending the 2nd Nilfgaard-Nordling War and ushering in a new world order. Although the negotiations were ostenisbly conducted by the monarchs, the treaty was actually the work of the Lodge of Sorceresses using their powers of persuasion with the various rulers.

Negotiators

Provisions of the treaty

  • Dol Blathanna was to become a free, autonomous principality, agree to loyalty to Aedirn but not made to paid hommage.
  • Repatriation of the people of Dol Blathanna, with the restoration of property rights and an equitable split of resources between humans and elves.
  • Scoia'tael Commanders were branded war criminals, and expected to be given fair hearings by the North leading to benign and rapid judgments or amnesty.
  • Kaedwen was to be forced to pay restitution to Demawend for Upper Aedirn.
  • Brugge and Lyria were to be given back by Nilfgaard; and settlers repatriated.
  • Membership is confirmed Zarzecz, Sodden and Angren to Temeria.
  • The issue of the Cintrian throne was resolved - Emhyr married Ciri, or rather her double.
  • Redanian and Temerian armies were to withdraw from Hagge.

Result

  • The treaty weakened Nilfgaard's position as a superpower, losing the majority of the army command and troops, as well as the previously acquired territories.
  • The largest proportional territorial gains were in Temeria.
  • The largest proportional territorial losses were in Aedirn.
  • Temeria (the southern areas around Maribor, Sodden and Brugge), Verden, Lyria and Aedirn had to rebuild after the devastation caused by the war. Whole towns were destroyed, villages, castles, manufactures, mines and industry all needed to be rebuilt.
  • Redania and Kaedwen which took part in the war, although none of the fighting took place on their soil, received nothing.
  • Jarl Skellig had to accept that there was no real reason to fight Nilfgaard anymore.
  • Kovir reconciled itself with the loss of profits from their ventures providing Redanians with supplies for the war against Nilfgaard.
