I found out where you get this ancient piece of paper. When you talk to the Order's weaponsmith at the makeshift forge for the first time about Raven's armour, the weaponsmith tells Geralt about St. Gregory and triggers the quest 'St. Gregory's Litany'. Geralt receives this ancient paper from him and it gets stored in the quest inventory. In the German version the 'Legend of St. Gregory' is labeled as a quest item.
