Summary

Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise
~ Official description from the Netflix Tweet
This first introduction to the film from Netflix turns out to be false, as Vesemir became a Witcher of his own choosing after meeting Deglan.

The movie opens with the ride of a carriage through a dark winter forest with the young boy Sugo singing a gloomy song. Inside the carriage are his three frightened sisters. The carriage has to stop the ride as Sugo needs to step out to relieve himself. His father protectively is keeping watch with a lantern, but suddenly they are all under attack by thorny vines. Only Sugo can flee from the bloody massacre. A Witcher (Vesemir) appears and picks up the fight with the monster that turns out to be a Leshy. Vesemir finally can kill the Leshy with Igni but the dying creature speaks to him in Ellylon: "Garean bhaedh aip me vhoelynath." After the Leshen's death, these words come as a whisper from the forest, too.
