trophy hook

Trophy quests are quests that appear in the journal only after slaying the beasts in question. There are ten of these quests in total, two for each Act in the game, except the Prologue and the Epilogue. With the exception of The Beast of the Sewers in Act II, none of these is required to finish the game.

The target-monster of a trophy quest is usually larger than any other of its kind, and they are also set apart by having their own name.

Periodic additional rewards

Periodically there are rewards beyond the money and the experience. To obtain these, Geralt must speak with the Royal huntsman a second time after the conversation to hand in the head. For example,

Svarog Third trophy: after the third trophy head has been handed in, Vincent (or the Royal huntsman, depending on when the trophy is handed in and to whom) gives Geralt a Svarog temporary rune
Perun Fifth trophy: there is also a reward after the fifth head has been redeemed: a Perun temporary rune
sword Final trophy: finally, there is the ultimate reward after handing in all ten trophies, the choice of one of two splendid swords: the Moon Blade, a silver sword, or G'valchir, a steel sword.

Trophy heads can be redeemed at any point in the same Act after they have been acquired. However, since you can only carry one at a time, turning them in as you get them is more efficient. Additionally, trophy heads cannot be stored at Inns.

Act I Act I

Nadir
Ozzrel

The Royal huntsman is able to tell you about these two. He can be found camping just west and south of the first two abandoned huts outside the Inn palisades in the Outskirts

Quest Prey
The Monster of the Lake Nadir, a drowned dead near the old mill in the Outskirts of Vizima
King of the Crypt Ozzrel, an alghoul in the crypt in the Outskirts

Act II Act II

Beast of the sewers
Coccacidium

Vincent Meis will tell you about the trophy quests in this chapter, and pay for the heads. You do not have to hand in the trophies you acquire in any given Act during that same Act. Vincent is at his post just outside the Dungeon in near the Gate to the Trade Quarter, on the Temple Quarter side, during the day.

Quest Prey
The Beast of the Sewers The greater cockatrice in the sewers of the Temple Quarter. Any heads acquired in Act II which are not handed in to Vincent can be given to the Royal huntsman in later Acts.
Bloodthirsty Vegetation Coccacidium, a large archespore in the Swamp

Act III Act III

Voref
Moa

The Royal huntsman has changed his location, and can now be found just outside the cemetery entrance in the Trade Quarter, just south of the Guardhouse, but his role remains the same.

Quest Prey
White Fang Voref, a large wolf in the Swamp
The Predatory Wyvern Moa, a large Royal Wyvern in the Swamp

Act IV Act IV

Tobias Hoffman will tip you off to the existence of two monsters haunting the fields near the lakeside. He can be found, during business hours, at his home in the village of Murky Waters.

Quest Prey

The Ancient Cemetaur Ureus, a cemetaur in the crypt in the fields outside of Murky Waters
