Map description[]
- It is hard to believe Toussaint, now so vibrant and full of life, once fell victim to a leprosy epidemic. To isolate the infected from the healthy, by ducal decree a leper colony was created on Crane Island. When all the colony’s inhabitants died, the complex gradually fell into ruin and the decision was made to adapt it into a prison, which it remains to this day.
