Gilrond is back! *wave * Nice to have you here :D »»Dove«« (talk) 14:26, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm looking into getting your old username back — Game widow (talk) 01:01, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, admins have just fixed the issue! Gilrond (talk) 00:21, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
woohoo! — Game widow (talk) 12:55, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Blog posts[]

I think your blog post is still in draft mode because you created it a bit strangely (not your fault, the process is not documented). The best way is to use the blog entry creation page, found here. If you did do that and it's still in draft mode, then i'm not quite sure what happened, but i will endeavour to fix it. — Game widow (talk) 11:35, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

After comparing your entry with some existing ones, i found the missing item ... there's a template that needs to be put at the end (i've done that for you) called "wl-publish" eg. {{wl-publish: ~~~~~ | username }}, just look at your original post in edit mode to see the changes — Game widow (talk) 11:41, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I submitted the post through Wikilog tab (because before it said "To add a blog post, just click on the Wikilog tab to the left of the search bar at the top of this page"). I guess that path creates it without wl-publish by default. -- Gilrond (talk) 18:41, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Indeed, which is why i changed it, hopefully, the new process is easier. Wikilogs is a bit of a strange extension and i'm far from expert with it — Game widow (talk) 14:24, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Recent changes[]

Hey, since you are the only person (who has spoken out) that seems to be bothered by the display of the minor edit notes, I suggest adding the following lines to your personal css file (under Preferences, Appearance tab):

.minoredit {
    border-bottom: none;
    font-size: small; /* optionally make it even smaller, or specify a size in px */
    font-weight: normal;

This will at least get rid of the dotted border underneath and make the text a bit smaller by virtue of not being bold. You an also play with the class .abbr if you want these changes to affect all the notations in recent changes.

I can change the character, but that would affect everyone. I may yet do that, but for now, please see if this helps you — Game widow (talk) 17:47, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! I didn't know there was such custom CSS option here. That helps indeed and doesn't require changing it for everyone if it's OK for other users. -- Gilrond (talk) 20:01, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Just to clarify if anyone would try that as well, it should be abbr element, not .abbr class. -- Gilrond (talk) 20:13, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Cool, thanks :) — Game widow (talk) 11:43, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Good news on the images front![]

We will soon be implementing a "common image store" for all the Witcher wikis. What does this mean for you? You might ask. Basically, once the system is in place (date still to be determined, but soon!) images will only have to be uploaded once, on the English wiki and then will automatically be available on all the other language wikis. In preparation for this, if you know of any images which are only available on other language wikis, and not on the English wiki, please upload a version on the English wiki. Once the system is in place, you will still be able to upload images which are unique to a given language version on that wiki if you choose, but it will not be necessary. Also, if you do upload an image on one of the non-English wikis and give it the same name as an existing image on the English wiki, the "local" version will take precedence.

As soon as the implementation date is nailed down, I will let you know. Meanwhile, please try to make sure all images are available on the English wiki. There should be relatively few which are not already there. — Game widow (talk) 21:43, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

The common image store is now live! You only have to upload images to the english wiki and they will automatically be available on all the language versions of the witcher wiki — Game widow (talk) 16:23, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

You can now block spammers and delete pages if necessary. — Game widow (talk) 12:09, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! — Gilrond (talk) 06:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Video embedding test[]

I'm fairly sure that doesn't work because the upload didn't work .. but i'll check into it — Game widow (talk) 16:11, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
The upload actually worked (see the file here). It's thumbnail creation that is preventing it from being used. Kind of a side reason really but it stops the whole thing - the browser can play it, but backend can't fetch a thumbnail. For example the extension can allow a way to specify thumbnail explicitly, thus avoiding trying to fetch it. This can allow delegating more tasks to the browser and removing some bottlenecks in case the backend isn't up to date yet with transcoding support. For now I'll reencode it in VP8 as you suggested, though that will increase the size. — Gilrond (talk) 16:40, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Awesome job on making this blink snippet, imho it really does its job well. Very cool indeed!
Peace, Ͽ †yræl pl Ͼ 01:52, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, at least we learned something about embedding on the wiki :) Avconv / ffmpeg are great tools in general for cutting / concatenating videos and transcoding them. You can use them too when needed for that purpose. — Gilrond (talk) 02:19, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Lindenvale cemetery?[]

Are you sure about that? It's been a while but i don't recall a cemetery there ... — Game widow ( talk ) 23:47, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

It's actually featured in The Merry Widow quest. The gravedigger from Lindenvale gives it. Some graves look ancient (and even elven there), but apparently it's still used by the village, since someone lights candles there and etc. It's located east from the village. — Gilrond (talk) 00:52, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
Oh right, now i recall. Thanks — Game widow ( talk ) 02:36, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Kaer Nyssen[]

You added Contract: Missing Son as an associated quest, but you didn't add any explanation on the quest page of where Kaer Nyssen comes in. — Game widow ( talk ) 13:02, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Good point. Geralt has to go there fight the fiend. I'll add this detail. — Gilrond (talk) 20:01, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
