Velen is the autumnal equinox, most frequently the 23 of September. It is a holiday which gives the name to the eighth, and last savaed of the elven calendar. In that day, families prepare a harvest feast after which they thank Melitele for the abundance. The travelers celebrate the night of Velen by drinking, singing and shooting fireworks.
- In Dutch, one of the languages which inspired Elder Speech, ‘velen’ means ‘to endure’, ‘to bear’.
