This article concerns a location that appears only in The Witcher computer game. Its contents might therefore contradict information from Andrzej Sapkowski's books and other adaptations. |
Vspaden or Vespaden is a duchy located north of Kaedwen.
The mention of the duchy of "Vspaden" in "The Price of Neutrality" module is an error based on a fan-made map from Andrzej Sapkowski Zone, even though CD Projekt RED created a more correct map[1] of their own for the game, which does not include it. The fan-made map includes the duchy based on a (misspelled) reference to Yspaden in "The Lesser Evil". According to Andrzej Sapkowski's own notes, which were released after the map was created, Yspaden is, in fact, a city in Redania. The town in Redania is mentioned in The Lesser Evil short-story by Geralt, when he is in Blaviken:
“
I'm making my way to Yspaden, but I don't know if I'll get there before the snows block the way. I might get stuck in one of the little towns on the Lutonski road.
”
- Adam Whitehead from the Atlas of fire and ice blog released a map with the Vespaden duchy (and town) added to the northern kingdoms. There it is located near the Buina river, west of Kaer Morhen and north-west of Ard Carraigh.
- Stanislav Komárek's map of Northern Realms also included it. Komárek's map
- Lod is possibly located there.
